Academic Integrity Champions are educators appointed within each Faculty, who will advise colleagues on discipline-specific queries that might arise relating to academic integrity, and where necessary direct colleagues to the appropriate resources or supports within UL. 

 

This role is designed to mirror that of Research Integrity Champion. This role has existed in UL for some time.   

 

  • Uphold and promote the principles of academic integrity described in the UL Academic Integrity Policy. 
  • Provide advice to educators in relation to suspected cases of academic misconduct. 
  • Support academic misconduct investigations as described in the Procedures for Managing Allegations of Academic Misconduct. 
  • Refer queries to the Academic Integrity Unit. 
  • Undertake any necessary training to effectively discharge their roles and responsibilities.  
  • Make recommendations regarding this policy or the Procedures for Managing Allegations of Academic Misconduct based on experience and observations in their role. 
  • You should not expect Academic Integrity Champions to act under unreasonable timescales. Champions  
  • Providing an opinion when they have not access to evidence underpinning an allegation of academic misconduct. 
  • Providing colleagues with definitive recommendations on sanctions. Academic integrity champions can provide guidance  
  • Developing resources or supports for colleagues (this is the role of the Academic Integrity Unit)
