UNIVERSITY ��ɫ��Ƶ students, training to be physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, will placed in primary schools. The innovative programme will aim to help to provide better outcomes for children and families in regeneration communities.

On 19th February, the Allied School of Health hosted the Annual Practice Education Symposium. It was attended by professional colleagues in Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech and Language Therapy.

This summer the School of Medicine, ��ɫ��Ƶ held a significant event “ENGAGE 2023”. It included a combination of keynote (Dr Brendan O'Mahony, Dr John Taggart and Sally Kedge) and lightning talks, poster presentations and an interactive workshop.

A new study has offered conclusive evidence that a personalised care approach for back pain can have significant benefits. The multi-centre trial based in Australia was led by Associate Professor Peter Kent at Curtin University in Perth, and Professor Mark Hancock at Macquarie University.

On 24th March, we had a team of UL Health Sciences students representing UL at the All-Ireland Interprofessional Education Challenge (AIPEC) hosted by University of Galway.

On 28th February, the Health Sciences Academy hosted its 3rd annual ‘Early Careers’ event, aimed to showcasing a career in healthcare from the perspective of clinical staff and students studying these careers.

There was a welcome return to real life contact for staff and practice educators for the School of Allied Health on January 20th 2023, when the School held their Annual Practice Education Symposium in the Health Sciences Building. This was the first in-person Symposium the school has held since 2020, having held it online the previous two years. This year, the Symposium was themed around “Feedback and Evolvement of Practice Education”. We welcomed numerous speakers and Practice Educators from around the country who showcased their respective ideas surrounding the topic throughout the day.
