Regular meetings
Academic members of our Centre meet regularly to discuss our current and future research projects, to develop our skills, and to support our members. In these meetings, members take it in turns to lead a session where they, for example, seek feedback on a paper or grant application in development; present a new method to group; or propose a recently published paper for us to discuss as a group. In this way, we learn with and from each other and develop new collaborations within the group.
Writing retreats
Such activities are also concentrated into our writing retreats, which take place once or twice a year, and have generated multiple collaborative papers aside from the academic writing that people first intended to achieve! We also have multiple successful external funding awards as a direct result of time spent writing applications at our writing retreats.
Conferences and events
In 2024, we organised and hosted the 6th International Conference on Social Identity and Health. We hosted 60 delegates from Europe, Asia and Australia, and 30 researchers from our own unit. This meeting was a major success.
In 2026 and 2027 we will organise events to advance new research collaborations, funding applications and outputs on various social issues of interest to our group. These events have been funded by the Office of the Vice President for Research through an internal funding call. Watch this space for more details as they become available.
Newsletters
The CSI-R produces a quarterly newsletter of our activities and accomplishments. You can see the recent editions of the newsletter here.
