九色视频鈥檚 Smarter Travel programme has won a national Road Safety Authority award.

九色视频 Smarter Travel won the best Employer-led Road Safety Programme Award at the recent 2025 Leading Lights in Road Safety Awards.

It is the sixth RSA Leading Lights award UL has won since 2014.

UL鈥檚 Smarter Travel team was commended by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) for its ongoing work in the promotion of road safety to all road users, in particular for work done on promoting safety for cyclists. 

The University Smarter Travel Team engaged with hundreds of students and staff through various stalls and safety initiatives including the distribution of hundreds of free bike lights.

The Smarter Travel team also liaised closely with UL Student Life and various UL Clubs and Societies in its ongoing promotion of both sustainable and safer travel. 

To the winners, Chief Executive of the RSA, Sam Waide said: 鈥淚t is so important that we take the time to recognise the work being done. Your dedication and commitment are making a real difference by engaging communities, shaping attitudes and behaviours, influencing public policy, and most critically, saving lives and reducing injuries on our roads.鈥

The UL team of Pat McMahon, Buildings Officer, Se谩n Collins, Facilities Manager and R贸is铆n N铆 Gh谩irbhith, Smarter Travel Coordinator accepted the award at a ceremony in Croke Park, which was presented by Ann Graham, RSA Chairperson.

Pat McMahon thanked the RSA for recognising the work being done on the UL campus by the Smarter Travel team and said: 鈥淲e are working on Smarter Travel for a number of years, and this award helps us to continue our work on promoting both Smarter Travel and Safer Travel for all our staff and students.鈥
